ND's Diabetic Reversal Clinic

Can Diabetes be Reversed ? Can diabetes be treated without medicine ?

Yes. Type 2 diabetes can be reversed and can be treated without medicine.

Type 2 diabetes, which occurs in more than 90 % people can be reversed and treated without medicine in eligible patients, even after many decades of disease existence.

Type 2 diabetes can be reversed by three scientifically proven methods of treatment

1. Bariatric surgery

2. Very low calorie diet

3. Low carbohydrate diet (LCHF) with or without time restricted eating

4.  Plant based whole food diet without any fat, animal product or dairy product

(The fourth method is not scientifically researched and not proven, but some people claim that it can also reverse type 2 diabetes- but there is no scientific evidence for it.)

Out of the above mentioned method , only Low carbohydrate diet is sustainable on long term.

What is diabetes reversal ?

Type 2 diabetes reversal , as defined by ADA and EASD is maintenance of normal blood glucose without use of any medicines for more than three months .

SOME FACTS/ TRUTH ABOUT FOOD AND NUTRITIONAL GUIDELINES :

There is no credible scientific evidence that eating low fat diet improves cardiovascular health. The evidence says that eating low fat high carb diet is detrimental in patients who already have heart disease especially if more than 65 years of age.

There is no credible scientific evidence that eating saturated fat is harmful for cardio vascular health.

There is no credible scientific evidence that keeping the saturated fat content to less than 7 % improves cardiovascular health, as recommended by American dietary guidelines and many other associations.

There are many credible scientific studies which show that eating saturated fat does not increase risk of heart attack, contrary to the popular belief.

There is ample reliable and credible scientific evidence that eating refined oil/ vegetable seed oil high in polyunsaturated fatty acid and omega -6 fatty acids is harmful for cardiovascular health and increases risk of heart attack and overall risk of death.

There is no credible scientific evidence that increased large size LDL-cholesterol or high total cholesterol increases risk of cardiovascular disease or mortality, contrary to popular belief. Small dense LDL cholesterol increase may be harmful.

American diabetic consensus report says that there is no upper limit for eating cholesterol in the food.

Many of the research study conclusions have been misinterpreted to suit and benefit the food and pharma industry, as evidenced by the review of the same raw data by unbiased researchers. eg the Jupitor study for the use of statins (year 2015) where benefit of meagre 1.2% was misinterpreted as 44% by incorporating the concept of relative risk, to suit the pharma industry sponsoring the study, in order to increase the sale of this drug.

The bitter truth is that the incidence of obesity, type 2 diabetes and heart diseases has increased many many times since 1977 when people all over world started following low fat and high carbohydrate diet as recommended by American dietary guidelines for the general public. These diseases have also increased after people started using refined oil / vegetable oil, hydrogenated oil during the same period.

Unfortunately, the scientific evidence shows that the incidence of type 2 diabetes, obesity and heart diseases have increased exponentially for the last 50-60 years when people started to follow the American dietary guidelines and also started eating refined vegetable oils .

After reviewing the scientific evidence , It appears that these existing dietary guidelines have ignored the scientific credible evidence and are biased ,possibly under the influence of food and pharma industry and personal beliefs, and the general public is paying the price of following it in terms of increased incidence of obesity, t2dm and cardiovascular diseases.

All the above mentioned facts are interpretation and opinion of many industry (medical and nutrition) experts and scientists, based upon available scientific credible studies, literature and evidence.
